Be Responsible When Dumping Oil |
|---|
| It is illegal to dump hazardous waste such as used motor and cooking oils. Used oil runs off into ditches and can get into groundwater or lakes and streams where it is harmful to plants and animals (including humans). Used oil also contains heavy metals that pose a health risk. By law, the place where you bought the new oil must accept used oil or post a notice of where you can recycle it. |
| Used Oil damages my house and yard. Do not dump Used Oil of any type on my property. If I see evidence of illegal oil dumping going on on any of my properties I will report it to the proper authorities. If there is a fine you will be responsible to pay it. If there is a clean up fee you are responsible to pay it. |
| If you have mistakenly dumped Oil on my property you need to clean it up immediately. We will start performing inspections looking for illegal dumping immediately. Anyone dumping oil will be evicted and their deposit will be forfeited. |
|
Used Oil Filters Used oil filters must be drained of oil before being disposed. All free-flowing oil must be removed from the filter. If the filter is hot drained for 24 hours, punctured and drained until all oil is removed, or crushed and drained, it may be placed in the trash and sent to a sanitary landfill. |
